Swami Vivekananda?s return to motherland in 1897 marked a wave of Jubilation and at Madras he gave 7 lectures during his 9 day stay at Castle Kernan (or Ice House), the present ?Vivekanandar Illam? or ?Vivekananda House?.
In these lectures Swamiji shook the sleeping soul of the Indians, raised the national consciousness by highlighting the glorious heritage of India & India?s unique contribution to world and gave them their lost identity. Swamiji fired them to shake off their inertia and work for the betterment of themselves and the masses.
