Vivekanandar Illam (earlier known as Ice House, Castle Kernan, Marine Mansion) is an important place for the Ramakrishna Movement in South India. Swami Vivekananda had stayed here for nine days. It was at the Illam that Swami Ramakrishnananda, a direct disciple of Bhagvan Sri Ramakrishna sowed the seeds of now well-known activities of Sri Ramakrishna Math at Chennai.
